Welcome to Mount Gravatt East State School – a
fantastic Queensland State School.
Mount Gravatt East has been offering an educational
program since 1955. The school has changed considerably over recent years. Our
enrolments are growing steadily due to high expectations and increased academic
rigour. Our school is extremely proud of the high standards our students
achieve in academic areas and in sporting and musical pursuits.
Our
school offers enrichment programs which aim to extend our
students. Students in Years 3 to Year 6 study a Language Other Than
English (LOTE) – Japanese. This year the school has also offered selected
students the opportunity to participate in a LOTE extension program. The school
also offers selected students the opportunity to participate in Instrumental
Music – Strings and Concert.
The school prides itself on providing
students access to a range of enrichment programs.
Our school provides a whole school
reading program where a Head Of Curriculum and trained teacher aides
are scheduled to work alongside the classroom teacher three times a week.
This program allows us to cater to individual student needs.
The school also offers identified students in all year levels the opportunity to participate in a before school
extensive literacy intervention/extension reading program.
A kindergarten is onsite. Kindergarten students visit our school once a week and take part in
library lessons. Students also borrow books from our
extensive catalogue once a week and are also happy participants in our school’s
Under 8’s Day. Parents who wish to enrol their child/ren at our kindergarten
should contact the centre on mtgravatteast@candk.asn.au
We provide a high quality education in a
supportive and caring environment where all students are supported to achieve
academically. Each student is expected to adhere to the school’s three
expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful and Be a Learner, wear the appropriate
uniform with pride, be punctual and be diligent in all tasks.
We are proud to be a medium sized school, close
to the city, that offers an individualised service to all students
and families.
