We're not your average P&C
We dream big, hustle hard, and get stuff done. The MGESS P&C work hard to provide rich engagement for the school community and to raise money to support programs and resources at the school. Everyone is welcome to participate, raise issues, share ideas, and lend a hand.
We have a vision to build a village around the children and families of Mount Gravatt East State School and are driven by the opportunity to have a meaningful impact with exciting plans for 2026 and beyond!
WHAT DOES THE P&C DO?
The P&C supports the school by building community and raising money to enable the school to provide the best possible experience for our children. We are all volunteers - parents, school staff and community members - who have an interest in the school.
We raise funds and provide engagement through:
- Running the uniform shop (volunteers)
- Organise fundraising events like Discos and Bush Dances.
- Manage Subway days throughout the year
- Work with partners at Lions Club to raise funds through Bunnings Sausage Sizzles
- Host internal fundraisers for Mother's Day, Father's Day and support the school at other fun events
- Manage donations via Containers for Change (Scheme ID C10061274)
- Work with community partners to build a village around the students of MGESS.
We also run other fundraising and community activities throughout the year. We are always looking for people who are keen to get involved and participate in ways that suit them – whether that be taking on a role on the executive team, helping fundraise, volunteering at or in the lead up to events and a million other ways.
GENERAL MEETINGS:
The P&C meet regularly throughout the year:
In person: We meet from 6.30pm in the school staff room at the end of the green
Online: Can't attend in person?
We can provide a Microsoft Teams link so you can attend virtually.
All members of the school community are invited to attend. Come along and have a look. You don't need to be a member to attend. Participation is encouraged in a respectful and positive spirit, with all attendees expected to follow the P&C Code of Conduct.
Code of Conduct (see page 2)
Joining the P&C is the best way to get across what is happening at the school.
Membership is free and you can join at any time. P&C Members receive regular updates on events, engagements, opportunities and important school information.
Sure, there's meetings, quorums, paperworks, turning sausages, breaking bags of ice and licking our thumbs separating raffle tickets - BUT, we work really hard to make these bits as fun as possible- and there's a lot more going on.
There is truly no contribution too small.
